Read Psalm 1
Psalm 1:1-2
Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful, but his delight is in the law of the Lord and he meditates on it day and night.
Do you want to be blessed? I think most of us would answer yes to that question. But we often equate being blessed with success in finances, fame, or good health. Psalm 1, however, sets the stage for the entirety of all the Psalms by encouraging the reader to understand that the true blessings of life are found in the ways and Word of God.
Reading and delighting in His Word, surrounding yourself with friends who give Godly counsel, and maintaining a heart that dedicates time to a relationship with the Lord is the pathway to holy transformation and nourishment.
Do you want to be blessed?
A tree planted by streams of water will never be thirsty. It will produce fruit and its leaves will be green with life. Devote yourself to opening your Bible every day to read a Psalm and meditate on its message. Doing so will pour living water into your soul and you’ll be amazed at how many times God speaks directly to your heart. Do you want to be blessed? It all starts with a morning spent with the Lord and loving time in His Word.
Lord, place a desire in my heart to pursue you each day. To plant myself next to your stream of life because that is where blessings flow.
