Why Are You Sitting on Your Hands?

ree

Psalm 47:1-2 (ESV)

Clap your hands, all peoples! Shout to God with loud songs of joy! For the Lord, Most High, is to be feared, a great King over all the earth.

God did not create you to sit on your hands. He also isn't a fan of you keeping your hands at your sides.

Lord knows (He knows) how you raise them and clap with great joy when your favorite sports team does well. Or how you cheer with all your might when your favorite music artist takes the stage.

How much more does the creator of the universe deserve our praise and adoration? He is Mighty! He is awesome! He is King of kings and Lord of lords! How could anyone sit on their hands or refrain from singing His praises?

A follower of Christ should not be subdued and/or melancholy in a worship service. We aren't observers. We participate and lead the charge. The next time you are in a sanctuary with fellow believers remind yourself of the victorious God you serve. Meditate on His goodness and visualize that you are face to face with God Almighty. Even as I type that I smile. It's a wonderful thought.

The language of Psalm 47 encourages the believer to go all out in praise for the Lord. When you read through the whole chapter you see clapping, shouting, blowing trumpets, and singing in full voice. What else is left but the kitchen sink?

God is your salvation, my friend. You are His and He is yours. Let that thought lift your spirit as you start your day. I can't emphasize this enough. Do you know how much you have to be thankful for? The God of the universe not only created you. He sees you. He knows you. He loves you and watches over you. When you have Jesus you have every reason to praise...

Oh yeah, and don't sit on your hands when you do it.
