Read Psalm 2
Psalm 2:8
Ask of me, and I will make the nations your heritage, and the ends of the earth your possession.
A heavenly perspective is a necessity in a world of chaos. I know it can be easy to believe the sky is falling when we watch the news, or scroll through social media. It seems the world just moves further and further away from Jesus no matter what we do, but don't be discouraged. Today's verses remind us that Jesus not only has the ultimate victory, but He's also waiting for you to ASK Him for the nations!
What does that mean?
It means Jesus has already won the war for this world, and your belief in Him puts you on His victory roster. In Matthew 28:18-20, Jesus delivers a"pregame" pep talk and encourages all members of His team to participate in expanding the roster. “Go into the world and make disciples of the nations,” are the marching orders.
Let me ask you a question. Who are you praying for in your circle who doesn't know Jesus? Are you actively asking Jesus to soften their hearts and to create an opportunity for you to share the good news of Christ?
In Psalm 2:8 the starting line is drawn in the sand. The great commission is not a hopeless endeavor. God promises that whatever we ask in His name will be given to us, pressed down and shaken together. If we ask God to go before us to prepare the soil in our mission work, He promises to “make” the nations our heritage, and the ends of the earth our possession.
That includes your friends and neighbors.
Do you know that God is ready to use you to change the world for His glory? All He wants you to do is Ask.
Jesus, you promise in your word to go before us and behind us. You have prepared the hearts of all people you send us to. We ask for fruit. We ask for those we love to know you. Send me, Lord. Send me. I ask in Your Name, Amen
