Hallelujah!

Psalm 34:33 Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together!
Every Christmas my wife and I go to the Schermerhorn Theater in downtown Nashville to hear the Nashville Symphony perform Handel’s Messiah. The highlight of the evening is when the choir begins to sing the Hallelujah chorus and every person in the theater stands in honor of the glorious moment. Tradition states that when King George II first heard the Hallelujah chorus he was so moved that he stood up in reverence to the holiness of the moment.
When you experience a multitude of voices singing Hallelujah in praise to the Lord, magnifying His Name together, you can’t help but stand and rejoice. There is nothing on this earth that beats it! It is a brief glimpse on earth of the beauty and majesty that will be experienced in heaven. I get chills thinking about it.
It is confusing to me why those who claim to love Jesus and follow Him don’t take advantage of every opportunity to worship Him alongside other brothers and sisters in Christ.
Some of the deepest, most touching moments of the Holy Spirit moving in my heart have come during times of corporate worship. Sporting events have exciting moments, and live concerts are a great experience, but moves of the Holy Spirit on a congregation of Christ-loving people are transformational.
Exalting the name of Jesus through worship with others is one of the great joys of life. If you don’t believe me, you’re not doing it right. Ask the Lord to change your heart and light a flame inside of you so that you will one day leave you no other choice but to sing, “Hallelujah!”
Dear Jesus, stir a passion in my heart to love you and sing praises to your name whenever I have the chance. Bring me that joy. In Your Name, Amen
