Read Psalm 8
Psalm 8:1
O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens.
In February 2018 I was visiting New Hope Bible College in Southern India to be a commencement speaker at their graduation ceremony. The day after the ceremony we decided to do some sightseeing and took a drive through the beautiful mountains. Somewhere along the way we stopped to pick up some snacks. Unbeknownst to me, the "rest area" we had just stopped at was located next to some of the largest tea fields in India. The green tea leaves stretched as far as the eye could see and went up into the mountains. All of my senses were blown away by the beauty. Our trip had begun in the early morning before the sun had risen, but now the sun was rising over the mountains and it created one of the most awe-inspiring sights my eyes had ever seen.
A morning mist had come down from the majestic mountains and the dew glistened across the expanding field. A slight breeze moved the leaves in a choreographed motion that mesmerized our group. God’s magnificent creation was in full beauty and all I could do was utter the words, “O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is Your Name in all the earth!”
I had recently gone through a hard season of life and at times I wondered if God had abandoned me, but as I looked at the beauty of His creation I knew that God was mindful of me and He had ordained that moment. He showed me His glory and brought much needed healing to my soul.
Seldom does a day go by that I don't think back to that moment. The picture is hanging on the wall in my office.
I believe God creates moments like these for all of us. If we stay on the lookout for them God will pull back the curtain of creation and let us know that He is right there with us. Know this, my friend, God has promised to never leave you nor forsake you. Talk to the Lord. Your Heavenly Father is listening.
Honestly, a camera could never truly capture that majestic beauty of that morning sunrise over the mountains of India. But every time I look at it I can’t help but recite the words, “O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is Your Name in all the earth.”
Lord, help me to always know that you are with me. I pray that you would create magnificent reminders each day that you are right by my side. Amen
