It is interesting that the first four disciples called by Jesus are fishermen. We don't know the occupations of all twelves disciples. But we can make educated guesses that:
Matthew was a tax collector. Judas Iscariot was a treasurer. Peter, Andrew, James, and John were fishermen. Philip, Nathanael (Bartholomew), James the Second, Judas (Thaddeus), Simon the Zealot, and Thomas were probably tradesmen of some sort, with the possibility that they were fishermen as well.
What we do know for sure about them is that they were not considered among the "elite" when it came to being called as a follower of a Rabbi and learning the law of God. And yet, Jesus called them to become the greatest fishermen the world has ever known...but the "call to go fishing" was a new adventure!
