You're a Part of...

Psalm 100:3 (ESV)
Know that the Lord, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
I was a history major in college. Math and science were not spiritual or physical gifts of mine (LOL!), but I always gravitated toward learning about the past. People, places, major events; their context, culture, and the details of a world that existed before I did fascinated me.
My love of history has grown as I've gotten older. Every once in a while it will occur to me that life on earth has been around long before I was, and it will continue to go on long after I'm gone. In the grand scheme of things, our individual lives don't even register on the timeline of history, and that is a humbling thought.
When you look at life that way it can be sad. What are we even here for? And where can we find the joy in any of it?
Let Psalm 100 share some Godly perspective! These five verses should brighten your day. Let's read them in their entirety. Psalm 100 (ESV)
Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth! 2 Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing! 3 Know that the Lord, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. 4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name! 5 For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.
Do you know who loved you and cared for you long before you were even a thought in anyone else's mind? God!
Psalm 139:13 says, "For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb." And when God went to work on creating you He paid attention to the details. The space you take up on this earth was set aside by God. He saw fit that you have it and He saw fit to make this world a better place by adding you!
Even better than that, verse 3 tells us that we are His, we are His people, the sheep of His pasture. The Lord is our Shepherd and He leads us through this life. He won't leave us! That should bring a smile to your face.
The Bible is God's Word that tells His story. God's story, throughout all generations! And He created you because He wanted you to become a part of His story. No wonder Psalm 100 is all about thankfulness, joy, and praise.
Take joy in the fact that God looked at this world and noticed someone very important was missing...YOU! And now you're a part of History.

When our daughter was born we both knew we changed the world. We didn’t know how…but we knew through her life, she would impact the lives of others. Years later, we don’t know how many or who most of them are. But we know the first of those were the two of us. She’s been a blessing in so many ways to us. And her two children are also destined to change the world. They may not change history in a way that’s noted in a book, but we’re confident they will be a blessing in the narratives of the lives of others.
Full disclosure: I’m an author, and their names ARE in some of my books.
