Psalm 16:2b, 5a, 7a, 11a (NKJV)
2b, You are my Lord, my goodness is nothing apart from you. 5a, You are the portion of my inheritance. 7a, I will bless the Lord who has given me counsel. 11a, You will show me the path of life.
If you’re looking for a prayer of thanksgiving to recite and make your own, here you go! Having an attitude of Thanksgiving is a conscious choice that we make. Psalm 16 presents the roadmap of how to set your mind on thankfulness and delight in the Lord. If you struggle with this you can wake up each day and choose delight in the Lord by putting the words of Psalm 16 into practice. Let the words of scripture become your praise that speak blessings into your life.
Give thanks for this. The Lord is good and there is nothing apart from Him. He is your portion and your inheritance, there is nothing of greater value on earth. The Lord is available to counsel you and give guidance, and He is sure to lead you to the path of life.
My friend, take a moment and drink in the goodness of these promises. Consider how blessed you are to have the God of the universe, the maker of the heavens and the earth, your creator, not only available to you but desiring to spend quality time with you. The blessings found in receiving Him include His goodness, His counsel, His love, His mercy, His grace, and His favor that are ultimately found in salvation in Jesus Christ!
When all of these things are poured into your heart it will reveal a path that leads to life. What other inheritance do you need? With this knowledge now presented to you, can you see why today would be a great day to “Choose Delight” in the Lord?
I do.
Lord Jesus, whom have I in heaven, but you? You are good and your mercy endures forever. Let today be a day where I choose delight in You. I am so blessed by Your goodness! Amen
