My Father Can Beat Up Yours!

Psalm 68:28 (ESV)

28 Summon your power, O God, the power, O God, by which you have worked for us.

Psalm 68:35 (ESV)

35 Awesome is God from his sanctuary; the God of Israel—he is the one who gives power and strength to his people. Blessed be God!

The argument on the playground was getting personal as the tension between two third grade boys had reached critical mass. What on earth could their disagreement be about? It was simple. One of the boys claimed that his dad could beat up the other boys dad, and now both of them defended their father's honor in an epic playground confrontation!

It may sound silly but when we were younger there was a deep-seeded desire in all of us to want our father to be better, wiser, and stronger than all others. Where does this desire come from? Well, I believe it comes from the way our Father in heaven created us. We all know that our Heavenly Father possesses all strength and power, and those who follow after him are filled with the power of the Holy Spirit. (Ephesians 5:18). When our Father is strong it means that WE are made strong!

And this exactly what are verses are telling us today. "He is the one who gives power and strength to his people." The importance of placing your confidence in those words cannot be overstated. Your strength and power is only as good as the Father who passed it down to you. And guess what, your Father is stronger than any other!

Let me ask you a question: As you go about your day today will you walk in confidence that God the Father has equipped you with strength & power that will enable you to face any challenge that comes your way?

Psalm 20:7 says, "Some trust in chariots, some trust in horses, but we will trust in the name of the Lord." Chariots and horses were the military might of the day, but that verse assures us that God's power eclipses them all. When you find yourself under attack, from whatever circumstances are thrown your way, I want you to have confidence in the strength & power that God your Father has placed in you. Do whatever you need to do to lock in and equip yourself for battle, because your Father won't let you fight alone. He's bringing all the strength & power you will ever need.

The victory is yours because of HIM!
