Psalm 42:11 (ESV)
11Â Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God.
Â
Why are you cast down? Don't you know who you have fighting for you?
JESUS!
But the battle between what we feel and what is real will rage until we are in heaven. Sometimes we need to be reminded of the hope we have in Christ. God promises in His Word time and again that He will never leave us nor forsake us, but when the trials of this world get tough we find it hard to escape the feeling of being alone.
Â
How can you fight back against that lie and stay connected to the Truth?
Â
Hebrews 6:19 says that you have the hope of Jesus as a sure and steadfast anchor for your soul. No matter your circumstances and no matter how bleak life may seem, you are tied to an immovable anchor. He has you!
The next time you're feeling "hopeless" remember this. You serve a risen Savior named Jesus. He knows exactly what it feels like to walk through a hopeless situation. He was handed over to religious officials, sentenced to death by Pontius Pilate, crucified, and buried in a tomb. All hope was seemingly lost!
Â
But He rose again!
Â
Talk about overcoming the most hopeless situation imaginable. He did it! And Scripture tells followers of Christ that the same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead dwells in you. That means Christ is in you, the Hope of Glory. (Col 1:27)
Do you smell something? I do. It smells like VICTORY! And Jesus brings the assurance of victory.
The next time you feel down or defeated, remind yourself of the hope you have in God. Trust in Jesus, and through Him victory will be yours!
Lord, I thank you for this reminder today. I needed to remember that my hope is built on nothing less, than Jesus Christ and His righteousness. On Christ the solid rock I stand all other ground is sinking sand. You are my living hope. In Jesus Name, Amen!
